For Students

Internship Placement

We identify viable, full-time internship opportunities related to your field of study, interests and academic requirements.

Internship opportunities are:

Related to your field of study

2 to 6 months in duration (extensions up to 12 months may be possible with employer approval)

At least 32 hours per week

Hosted by a vetted, safe and eligible U.S. company

Supervised by a qualified U.S. employee

Primarily located in the New York City tri-state area, although other locations may be available

Most placements are with small and mid-sized companies. Compensation varies by position and is not guaranteed.

J-1 Visa Sponsorship and Immigration Guidance

Once an internship is secured, AIFS Professional Pathways can review eligibility and provide J-1 visa sponsorship for a qualifying program.

Who Is Eligible for Internship Placement

Our Internship Placement service is designed for international students who:

Are at least 18 years old

Are proficient in English

Are enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution

Are pursuing a bachelor's, master's or PhD-level degree

Are seeking an internship during their course of study

Want professional experience related to their academic field

Placement is available in most academic fields, subject to program eligibility and opportunity availability.

How to Get Started

Tell us your enrollment status, field of study and anticipated internship start date. Our team will review the information and confirm whether we can assist with your placement. We recommend beginning the process 4 to 6 months before your preferred start date.

Depending on your university, discounted placement pricing may be available.

J-1 sponsorship, the I-901 SEVIS fee and health insurance are separate from the placement service fee.
